For our March Cinema Classics screenings, we’re proud to present ALL ABOUT EVE, a part of the Hollywood Theatre’s Feminist March programming. The screening on 3/2 is free for Hollywood Theatre members.
ALL ABOUT EVE (1950) Eve Harrington (Anne Baxter) is an aspiring actress who maneuvers her way into the life of a Broadway star Margo Channing (Bette Davis) and her circle of friends. As she plots her rise to the top, the ingenue is aided by the acid-pen of cynical theater critic, Addison Dewitt (George Sanders). The ultimate backstage story features one of the all-time great acting ensembles (including a young Marilyn Monroe) reveling in larger-than-life performances and trading the nastiest of barbs. An early, and frankly rare, example of a Hollywood Classic film featuring women in strong leading roles who must contend with the pressure to stay relevant in an industry that prizes youth and beauty above all else.
