Be Here to Love Me

Series: Mississippi Records Music & Film

BE HERE TO LOVE ME chronicles the life of the great Texas singer/songwriter Townes Van Zandt.  Never all that famous or appreciated in his day besides as the writer of the Willie Nelson hit "Pancho and Lefty," Townes is now regarded as one of the greatest songwriters of all time. Townes sacrificed all the trappings of a normal, decent life for the sake of trying to write good songs - and he is one of the few souls where this devil's bargain worked out for him. The film, beautifully directed by Margaret Brown, relies on archival footage and modern interviews to tell the tale. A must watch for the weary of heart.

A portion of the proceeds will benefit the Janus Youth Programs, an organization that serves homeless and at-risk youth through mobile outreach and other means.  A great organization deserving of support!
