The
Grindhouse Film Festival presents an extremely rare 35mm print of this overlooked crime masterpiece. This screening is also a tribute to John Heard (1945-2017). Advance tickets
are strongly recommended.
CUTTER'S WAY (1981):
Jeff Bridges stars
as Richard Bone, a small time hustler drifting between the beaches and
bars of Santa Barbara. John Heard co-stars in a ferocious performance as
Alex Cutter; an unpredictable, alcoholic Vietnam vet who lost an eye,
leg and arm in the war, and gets angrier about it by the day. The two
friends are dragged into a murder mystery when Richard accidentally
witnesses a man ditching a body in a trash can. Alex begins to believe
that the murderer is a wealthy and powerful man in the community, and starts to blackmail him as a means of striking back at an unjust system
that ruined his life. They'll soon find out it's a dangerous game when
fighting against the rich and powerful, but Alex Cutter isn't going to
back down...
