I Shot Andy Warhol

This is part of Feminist March 2020

The Hollywood Theatre’s Feminist March programming presents I SHOT ANDY WARHOL on 35mm, in conjunction with Hollywood community programmer Anthony Hudson’s new show about Valerie Solanas at Reed College on March 12!

Directed by Mary Harron (AMERICAN PSYCHO), I SHOT ANDY WARHOL details the life and legacy of Valerie Solanas (Lily Taylor), the radical feminist satirist and author of the SCUM Manifesto. After moving to New York City out of college, Valerie falls in with Factory starlet Candy Darling (Stephen Dorff) who introduces Valerie to Andy Warhol (Jared Harris) as a potential producer for her new play – until Warhol’s bad art and gatekeeping pushes Valerie to a violent breaking point. Co-starring Martha Plimpton and Justin Theroux, this true story shines light on one of the most misunderstood, misinterpreted, and revolutionary queer minds of the twentieth century.
