Liquid Sky

Series: Fashion in Film

Fashion, cocaine, and… aliens? Welcome to the fall edition of Fashion in Film, a quarterly series in which fashion-y writer types Eden Dawn (of the Portland Monthly) and Marjorie Skinner (formerly of the Portland Mercury) combine sartorial cinematic significance with Portland design realness. Cult classic Liquid Sky’s optic mix of science fiction and electroclash-chic dropped in 1982, and it influenced Portland fashion genius Adam Arnold so much that he designed an entire collection about it. Join us for a slideshow of the ensuing garments and a quick pre-screening Q&A with the singular AA himself!

LIQUID SKY (1982) An alien creature invades New York's punk subculture in its search for an opiate released by the brain during orgasm.
