Masters of Practical Effects
The Hollywood Theatre is proud to host Rick Baker and Chris Walas for MASTERS OF PRACTICAL EFFECTS, a weekend-long celebration of two of the film industry’s most revolutionary creators. Before computerized effects took over the industry, Baker and Walas painstakingly created groundbreaking makeup and effects by hand. Walas brought us Gremlins and oversaw Jeff Goldblum’s transformation into the Fly, while Baker’s work on AN AMERICAN WEREWOLF IN LONDON earned him the first-ever Academy Award for Best Makeup. We’re thrilled to have Baker and Walas in attendance for 35mm screenings of three of their most iconic films.
