My Mother Likes Women

Series: Queer Commons Film Festival

This is part of Feminist March 2019

In partnership with the Hollywood Theatre’s Feminist March programming, Queer Commons is proud to co-present MY MOTHER LIKES WOMEN ( A Mi Madre Le Gustan Las Mujeres).

Best described as an “Almodóvarian romp,” the debut film from the filmmaking team of Daniela Fejerman and Inés París is an endearing, quirky comedy. Starring Rosa María Sardà (All About My Mother) as Sofía, it’s the tale of three sisters whose mother reveals that she is in love with a younger woman. While the world is paved with a million good intentions, the sisters are not only uncomfortable with their mother’s newfound lesbianism but also worried that she might be being swindled for her money by her new love. Their conspiratorial effort to break the pair up ends with disastrous consequences and soon the traitorous trio are learning more about love, trust, and themselves than they ever imagined.
