The latest installment of the Portland Latin American Film Festival tells the story of Segundo Paucar, a 14-year-old boy who wants to become a master story-box maker just like his father so that he may carry on the family legacy.

Segundo Paucar, un chico ayacuchano de 14 años que quiere ser retablista, está siendo entrenado por su padre, un maestro reconocido, para continuar con el legado familiar. Camino a una fiesta patronal, Segundo observa casi por accidente a su padre en un acto que hace que su mundo se le venga abajo.

Retablo won the Teddy Award at the 2018 Berlin International Film Festival in addition to winning several other international Film Festival Awards.
