After her impulsive first marriage to blue-blooded alcoholic C.K. Dexter Haven (Cary Grant) ends in an equally passionate divorce, Philadelphia socialite Tracy Lord (Katharine Hepburn) decides to give matrimony another try. This time the groom is nouveau riche businessman and aspiring politician George Kittredge (John Howard), with the wedding to take place at the Lord family estate. But when her ex-husband arrives on the scene the day before the ceremony with two tabloid reporters (James Stewart and Ruth Hussey) in tow, Tracy is in for a wild ride. See the film that won Jimmy Stewart his only Best Actor Oscar!
