Mississippi Records is proud to bring the Sun Ra Arkestra back for three shows at the Hollywood Theatre! Under the direction of Marshall Allen (at the age of 97), the Arkestra will bring cosmic tones for mental therapy, impressive jazz, space chants, and some of the most beautiful universal music imaginable.
With 15 members, the Arkestra is a heavy big band. Their five shows two years ago in Portland blew minds left and right. The band enjoyed themselves in our town so much we decided to have them back as soon as the world would allow it.
Each night will offer a different set (with some possible overlap of songs - but the Arkestra never plays it the same way twice.) There will also be some projections on the big screen and elaborate stage sets.
It could be argued that the Sun Ra Arkestra is the greatest band of all time. Don't miss this exciting opportunity to see them in full force. We dare proclaim this the show of the year!
This show is part two of the "After The End Of The World Festival," which features Mississippi Records favorite living music acts presented with films and projections on the big screen.
