Nick Charles (William Powell), a former private detective who spends most of his time consuming copious amounts of alcohol and trading witty banter with his beautiful socialite wife Nora Charles (Myrna Loy), is reluctantly brought out of retirement to help find a missing inventor suspected of murdering his mistress. Masterfully shot by James Wong Howe, and co-starring Maureen O’Sullivan, Nat Pendleton, Minna Gombell, Cesar Romero, and Skippy the dog as Asta, come drink, drink, and be merry in this delightful mystery-comedy.
