Wyrd War has partnered with Canadian director Kier-La Janisse and Severin Films to bring this beautiful award-winning new study of folk horror to the big screen at Hollywood Theatre! WOODLANDS DARK AND DAYS BEWITCHED (2021) is a thoughtful and exhaustively researched deep dive into this fascinating cinematic sub-genre that has taken international film festivals by storm.

Janisse leaves no stone unturned (careful, Kier-La!) as she guides viewers through the murky labyrinth of folk horror from its seminal roots in the “unholy trilogy” of WITCHFINDER GENERAL (1968), BLOOD ON SATAN’S CLAW (1971) and THE WICKER MAN (1973), through the occult proclivities of 70s British television to its contemporary global impact and culturally nuanced manifestations from around the world. Along the way, we explore the complexities of cultural identity, race, class and the very notion of the “outsider” as monster.

Featuring hours of informative interviews, rare film clips and original animation, this receives our unwavering vote for best horror documentary of the year. JOIN US!

Wyrd War will be selling copies of their newly released soundtrack to the 2013 folk horror gem JUG FACE in the lobby during this event.
