Get out your beret, Repressed Cinema is presenting 16mm shorts that examine artists and the creation of fine art. Five short subjects are presented, each a rumination on an individual American artist and their process and background in the endeavors of painting or sculpture. First, George Kuchar will give us a portrait of mixed media artist Betty Holiday. Oil painting will be represented in the evening with three films including an examination of the life and work of painter Ben Shahn who painted the iconic work "Handball". You will also see views of the 1970's New York art world. Lastly, an inspiring  film about a "found object" sculptor from the '60s who makes things in a junkyard. Mostly presented on glorious 16mm film!  If you are an artist or an art appreciator you will not want to miss these unique short films examining the American artistic spirit. Special door prizes for those who come wearing a beret!

Underground Comix for sale in the lobby as usual.
