Keoma

Series: Wyrd War Presents!

Wyrd War invites you to experience Italian exploitation maverick Enzo Castellari’s allegorical acid western masterpiece KEOMA (1976) on the very big screen for one night only!

Franco Nero is magnetic as Keoma, a haunted former Union soldier of mixed race who returns to his hometown after the Civil War to find it dominated by a tyrannical pioneer and his own racist half-brothers. Keoma vows revenge for his brothers’ betrayal and, together with his disillusioned father and his childhood hero, played with stoic athleticism by the great Woody Strode, prepares to confront his destiny in one final bloody apocalypse. Set against a hellish landscape where plague is ravaging the population, and punctuated by a mystical spectre credited only as The Witch, KEOMA is based on a treatment written by George Eastman himself and unravels like a Sam Peckinpah tragedy on strange hallucinogens. Boasting a score by frequent Castellari collaborators Guido & Maurizio De Angelis, KEOMA marks the end of the Spaghetti Western era and is unlike any other film in this vital and innovative subgenre.

This screening is also the record release for local acid western rockers ZONE TROOPER. We will premiere the band’s music video before the film and there will be merchandise available in the lobby.
