Muriel's Wedding

The Hollywood Theatre celebrates 25 years of MURIEL’S WEDDING!

(1994) Ostracized by her friends and living in the shadow of her domineering father (Bill Hunter), Muriel (Toni Collette) daydreams of getting married. Once she meets fellow outcast Rhonda (Rachel Griffiths), the two move to Sydney where Muriel meets a beautiful swimmer (David Van Arkle) and begins the work of rebuilding her life to get the storybook wedding she’s always dreamed of.

Featuring a soundtrack full of ABBA classics (given to the film royalty-free, thanks to director P.J. Hogan threatening to camp on the band’s lawn), and presented on 35mm, MURIEL’S WEDDING is a bittersweet, hilarious, and sincere classic that singlehandedly made Toni Collette an international name.
