Northwest Animators Showcase

Series: Northwest Animation Festival

The Northwest indie animation scene is super-charged with creative energy. Maybe it's the rain inspiring us to sit down and make art? Dig into the mystery with this diverse collection of short films from Oregon, Washington, and British Columbia. After the screening, stay for a special 30min "Meet the Animators" panel discussion.

Here's some of what you'll see... Always looking for their next meal, the Portlandia rat gang tries a new ploy: squirrel impersonation. Oscar-winning animator Joan Gratz uses gorgeous, morphing clay paintings to illustrate Yeat's classic vision of the rough beast that slouches toward Bethlehem. A comedic pair of robot buddies narrowly escape being caught in a transdimensional garbage disposal. Frank Zappa's legendary creative partner, Bruce Bickford, reveals his latest psychedelic revelation. Armadillos turn to online dating to preserve the species. An exciting collaboration between Rose Bond and the Oregon Symphony transforms the concert hall into a multi-screen abstract extravaganza.
