The Kid

Series: Pipe Organ Pictures

After leaving the charity hospital where she's just given birth, a woman deposits her new baby in the back of a limousine and goes off to commit suicide. The limo is stolen by thieves who dump the baby by a garbage can. The baby is discovered by the Tramp (Charlie Chaplin), who makes a home for the child until events put their relationship in jeopardy.

THE KID is a silent American comedy-drama which was selected for preservation in the United States National Film Registry by the Library of Congress as being "culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant." Innovative in its combination of comedic and dramatic elements, THE KID is widely considered one of the greatest films of the silent era.

Also on the bill, Chaplin's THE RINK (1916).

THE KID and THE RINK will be shown with an original musical score composed and performed by Dean Lemire on the Beverly Ruth Nelson Organ.
